Perfectionism

Achieve what matters. Sustain Excellence. Keep thriving.

Perfectionism is a complex phenomenon. You may see it in the demanding expectations you have of yourself or others, intense pressure to achieve, or difficulty accepting mistakes. You may struggle with feeling good enough. Or maybe it shows up as over-achievement, people-pleasing, self-criticism, over-thinking or procrastination. Maybe all of these behaviours sound familiar.

It is likely you value the drive, motivation, persistance and attention to detail that your perfectionism brings. But when your standards become relentless and demanding, and that perfectionistic voice becomes deafening, the same patterns can leave you exhausted, threaten your relationships and well-being, and make success difficult to enjoy.

I help you understand how these patterns develop and how you can develop a more flexible way forward which allows you to keep the ambition, excellence and drive that matters to you.

How can I help?

Individuals

Explore how perfectionism may be affecting your confidence, well-being and relationship with yourself. I help you identify the expectations and rules behind self-criticism, over-thinking, procrastination or people-pleasing, and develop a more flexible approach to your professional and personal life that supports your ambition, needs and happiness.

Relationships

Explore how perfectionism may be affecting connection, communication and emotional closeness in your relationships. I support individuals, couples, and families to understand each other better, change unhelpful perfectionistic patterns and build more satisfying relationships.

At work

Navigate the pressure to perform, achieve, prove yourself or take responsibility for everything. Together, we can work towards more sustainable ways of managing demands, setting boundaries and recognising when you have done enough without lowering standards or productivity.

Organisations

Talks, workshops and tailored programmes which explore perfectionism, high performance, workplace expectations and well-being. I help teams, leaders and organisations consider how they can support high standards alongside sustainable performance and a healthy and supportive working culture.

Research-informed Practice

My research explored the interplay of perfectionism and self-care behaviours among professionals in Hong Kong. It highlighted how rules about achievement, reputation and responsibility made self-care feel undeserved or unavailable.

These findings inform my therapeutic approach, workplace training and the intervention I have developed to help people understand their perfectionistic rules and behaviours and to explore more flexible responses both personally and professionally.
